1) One situation, there’s no adequate space to build ramps for pitless truck scale,and no enough space for driving down the scale as well. For example: the truck scale will be applied in filling process control,and the top position of feeding mechanism is fixed and readjusting position is not possible. The allowed maximum height of scale’s surface is to level the earth,as a result the truck scale will have to be installed in pit foundation.

1) Easy for installation and maintainenance
Pit type needs scale body or foudation to have holes,so maintainers can enter into the pit under the scale to install and maintain the scale. While most pitless truck scales only need to remove side plates to check load cells of scales,further most works are not finished under scales.
2) Drainage system
Pit foundation needs to consider how to deal with rain and snow. Drainage system should be set when making the foundation construction. This system needs regular maintenance,it will increase maintenance workload. But such trouble will no happen to pitless truck scale which can drain naturally.
3) Safety factor
According to the safety requirements of factory’s facilities and areas,special application is required for maintainers entering into pit. The bottom of pit can be defined as a confined space. Security devices contain safety belt,cable elevator,air quality monitor and so on. In some chemical plants,gases heavier than air are gathered under the foundation pit, this is the potential danger. On the contrary,pitless truck scale lowers the safety level greatly as most tasks can be done on the earth.
4) Others
Sundries,waste,muck are easily gathered in foundation pit,and they are hard to clear up,so it will provide the refuge for pests and mice.
